Sir. Your letter came to hand in due time and was thankfully recd and its contents perused with great interest. I contained the only [legitional] news that I have re’cd from the Reg and or more properly from my Company since I left it last fall. I wrote to Capt Fassett a number of times but never recd any answer in return. I have often wished to be with the Boys of Company II during the past winter and nothing but continued bad health which made it absolutely impossible for me to stand field service could have kept me from being among you. My sympathy and thoughts are with you all although the Body Corporeal is absent. I am to day as much of an Enthusiast in support of the war as I was when I set out with the Reg. I have no doubt but some of the members of the Company knowing my old Political opinions mistrust me and perhaps think that I favor a certain wing. Or rather Fungus of the Democratic
