About this collection

Lauretta Hadley married Asher LeFleur after the Civil War. Both had been students at Hillsdale College. This collection contains a diary written by Lauretta Hadley during the Civil War and as well as a number of letters written to Lauretta Hadley and Asher LeFleur. Asher LaFleur was a member of the Michigan 4th Regiment and was wounded at the Battle of Spotsvania, resulting in three amuputations and the loss of his leg.  A number of the correspondents have a connection to Hillsdale College including Lauretta's brother, Cornelius Hadley, a Medal of Honor awardee.
